Longford County Council requires the services of a competent Consulting Engineer experienced in the field of wastewater collection, treatment and disposal to carry out services for the Preliminary Design Stage to determine the future strategy for the Longford Sewerage Scheme.
The Longford Sewerage Scheme Phase 2 Preliminary Design Stage will involve a Consulting Engineer carrying out an investigation of the Longford Wastewater Treatment Plant as well as the drainage catchment of Longford Town and its environs to identify hydraulic, environmental, structural and operational issues, and also the construction and verification of a hydraulic model of the collection network in order to assess the wastewater collection, treatment and disposal needs to cater for the townโ€™s requirements over the next 20 years.

The scope of the work includes the following:โ€” preparation of Project Inception Report,โ€” reviewing all previous Plans, Reports, Studies, Licences and Recommendations relevant to the Scheme and the Study area,โ€” the examination of the condition and performance of the existing Longford Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sludge Treatment Centre, to identify existing operational restrictions within the plants and advise Longford County Council on the prioritisation of the works to improve the performance of the plants,โ€” determining projected flows from Domestic, Commercial, Institutional and Industrial uses over a 20 year design horizon,โ€” identifying the relevant characteristics of the wastewater to be treated,โ€” examination of the needs to expand the existing wastewater treatment plant and sludge treatment centre,โ€” the examination and recommendation of a phased approach (if appropriate) to the upgrade of both the foul and storm collection systems, as necessary to meet the design horizon of 20 years,โ€” consideration of options and make recommendations, for separate foul and storm sewers, upgrading deficient sewers and new separate foul sewers as required.
