The CIร‰ Group is seeking to commercialise spare fibre core capacity on a number of fibre optic cables across the Irish Rail Network. The rail network extends to all the major population centres in Ireland and the fibre is ideally positioned to support the provision of Backhaul services between towns and cities. Fibre cores will be offered on a dark fibre offering only through a long-term IRU or a long-term lease / license. This tender may be of interest to companies in the telecommunications or ICT sectors who require additional bandwidth capacity.

Interested applicants should confirm their interest by e-mail to pat.mullan@irishrail.ie AND jennifer.coules@irishrail.ie, indicating that they are interested in participating in this tender. Applicants will be required to complete the pre qualification questionnaires, which will be available from 2.2.2011, will be sent to those expressing an interest. The questionnaire must be completed in full and returned not later than 28.2.2011. The negotiated procedure will be used for the award of this contract. CIE will not be responsible for any costs, charges or expenses incurred by candidates / tenderers, whether or not a contract is concluded. The successful tenderer(s) will be required to furnish a valid tax clearance certificate from the Irish Revenue Commissioners. Tender submissions may be subject to satisfactory clarification. The contracting authority is entitled, but not obliged, to seek clarification of any relevant matter. A contract or contracts may be awarded to one or more service providers. If for any reason it is not possible to award contract(s)to the designated successful tenderer(s) emerging from any of competitive processes arising from this process, or if having awarded the contract, CIE considers that the successful tenderer has not met its obligations. CIE reserves the right to award the contract to the next highest scoring tenderer(s) on the basis of the terms advertised.
