The Carrickphierish Campus Development is a joint project between the Department of Education and Skills (DES) and Waterford City Council (WCC). The development consists of the construction of two sixteen classroom primary schools each with a special needs unit, a public library, shared general purpose hall and community facilities, on a 5 acre site, located in the townland of Carrickphierish, in the Northwest suburbs of Waterford City. The works include car parking, set-down, hard play and soft landscaped areas, boundary walls, railings, gates, an ESB substation and works outside the site including public footpaths, verges, street lighting and furniture etc. The building size is approximately 7 800m2.

Candidates will be pre-qualified on the basis of the information submitted in response to this notice (All criteria have a minimum standard).The contract will be awarded on the basis of most economically advantageous tender. A minimum score of 40 % must be achieved in each qualitative section and an overall score of 50 % is required. There are no Contractor or Employer named specialists. All sub-contractors are domestic. The successful applicant will be appointed Works Contractor and Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage (PSCS) on the project in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations. The Project categorisation for assessment of H&S competence as Works Contractor and PSCS is Major Works. The Areas of work involving Particular Risks known to Contracting Authority at this time are: As set out in the Preliminary Health & Safety Plan which will accompany the tender pack at the next stage. Expressions of Interest or tender competitions have been or are being conducted separately for: None. It is a condition precedent to the award of the Contract that the successful Tenderer will provide: 1. A current tax clearance certificate or in the case of a non-resident Contractor a statement of suitability on tax grounds from the Revenue Commissioners of Ireland. 2. Evidence showing that they are in compliance with the registered employment agreement (Construction Industry Pensions Assurance and Sick Pay). Short-listed candidates may at Tender stage propose alternate personnel for consideration subject to the requirement that the proposed personnel must be of at least equal competency in all respects as those originally proposed. The Department of Education & Skills is subject to the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act, 1997. If a candidate considers that any of the information supplied in response to this notice is either commercially sensitive or confidential, this should be highlighted and reasons for its sensitivity given.
