UL 0215 University of Limerick Glucksman Library Building Reconfiguration - Phases 1 & 2
Phase 1 consists of entrance area works and the reorganisation of internal areas.
The Glucksman Library was completed in 1997 and provides information, collections and services to students, faculty, staff and researchers of the University of Limerick. In December 2007, the Minister for Education and Skills announced an extension to the current Library facility at UL under the PPP initiative.
The extension, which will be at the southern end of the existing library will bring the combined capacity of the Library from 1 200 persons to 2 000. However, the existing entrance will continue to serve the existing Library as well as the extension. This will require the reconfiguration of the entrance area, access routes and services points in the existing Library. On completion the new facility and the existing Library must merge seamlessly to provide on integrated Library facility. Phase 1 of the reconfiguration will deal with issues relating to the entrance area and ground floor only.
Phase 2 consists of works to facilitate improvements to the the existing Fire Strategy, Acoustics and Atria.
The approximate floor area of Phases 1 & 2 is approximately 1 460 mยฒ.
