Request for proposals for land sale for the provision of a centralised alternative energy centre

IDA Ireland

It is IDA Property Divisionโ€™s intent to enable, in conjunction with the private sector, centralized alternative energy centres at specific locations throughout its property portfolio in Ireland. The first of these locations is Letterkenny business and technology park where a site within the park of up to 3 hectares (7,4 acres) is being made available to purchase for the purpose of creating a centralized alternative energy centre. A condition of the sale is that the project must include the provision of a district heating network to serve the IDA land holding and both existing and future IDA/EI clients. Other significant users in the immediate catchment area can also be included in the successful applicantโ€™s scheme.
IDA Ireland will provide a site on a restrictive user basis for the specific purpose of a centralised alternative energy centre. The lease will be for 999 years and must be purchased at the current IDA board approved land price.
Applicants are invited to submit proposals for the purchase of a site within Letterkenny business & technology park for the purpose of developing an alternative energy centre. For the purpose of this RFP an alternative energy centre is defined as a renewable energy generator capable of supporting a district heating network to serve, at a minimum, a small to medium scale business and technology park.
The RFP is open to organisations with relevant experience in the planning, design, development, funding and operation of energy generation plant incorporating local district heating who may be interested in developing such a facility, on a purely private basis, in the Letterkenny area.
