Lead consultant for the proposed new City and County Library in Kilkenny

The client, Kilkenny County Council, requires a Consultant Architect to lead a Design Team for the detailed design and construction of a new facility.
This project requires an Architect-led design team to provide the following services: Lead Architecture and Project Management, Conservation Architecture, Archaeology, Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering and Quantity Surveying Services for both the design and construction phases.
The County and City Library is currently located in Kilkenny City at St Johnโ€™s Quay. The new facility is to be located at 75 and 76 John Street, within an Architectural Conservation Area of the city. The facades of 75 John Street is a protected structure dating from the 1800โ€™s. The floor area of the proposed new library is approximately 1,450 sq.m over two floors.
The project involves consideration of the following key objectives:
1. essential conservation works to the existing buildings at 75 and 76 John Street;
2. the provision of a new library building to the rear of 75 and 76 John Street.
This project represents a first phase of development of what is known as the Meubles site. Future phases of development that are separate from this project will involve the design and construction of an office accommodation block contiguous to the proposed new library building.
The definitive scope of the Design Team Services required will be set out in the Invitation to Tender documents, which will be forwarded to the successful parties who qualify from this stage of the procurement process.
