Commission for Energy Regulation

The Commission for Energy Regulation (the "CER") is the independent body responsible for overseeing the liberalisation of Ireland's energy sector. The Petroleum (Exploration and Extraction) Safety Act 2010 ("2010 Act") gives the CER significant new functions in the area of petroleum exploration and extraction safety, specifically the responsibility to regulate the petroleum activities of petroleum undertakings with respect to safety. The CER currently wishes to engage external legal support for a duration of, up to, 4 years, to support the design and implementation of the petroleum safety framework and other ancillary issues related to the CERโ€™s petroleum safety functions under the 2010 Act.
