Dun Laoghaire VEC

The works consist of the demolition of part existing structures on site, the construction of new basement with 3 floor levels above which will be adjoined to an existing listed structure which will be refurbished to include Senior College facilities and a new library facility for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The existing listed structure will require all works to be carried out in accordance with current legislation and statutory obligations pertaining to listed structure. All associated site services and external site development works associated with this development will be carried out within this contract. These works has started on site by another main contractor who is now in receivership. Most demolitions are now complete, the basement is partially complete and certain works are underway in the existing structures. The works associated with this notice are for the completion of the project in full.

The successful applicant will be appointed Works Contractor and Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage (PSCS) on the project in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations. The Project categorisation for assessment of H&S competence as Works Contractor and PSCS is Major Works. The Areas of work involving Particular Risks known to Contracting Authority at this time are: 1) site access/location in a busy town centre with busy mews to rear; 2) site location with accommodation for young people and children on two boundaries including maintaining access to existing fire escape and working over adjacent garden; 3) confined site, reduced space for loading, storage and welfare facilities; 4) demolitions generally including working over mews lane; 5) working in and around an existing vacant building, working in confined spaces, risk of falls, risk of contact with exisiting services; 6) deep excavations in a built up area; 7) working at heights in a built up area. Expressions of Interest or tender competitions have been or are being conducted separately for: (list any other concurrent Contracts on site (None if not otherwise stated)). It is a condition precedent to the award of the Contract that the successful Tenderer will provide: 1.
