Development of Optical Fibre Infrastructure for Coillte Telecommunications sites
Coillte
Coillte is Irelandโs largest landowner and is involved in forestry, land management and renewable energy, as well as the manufacture and export of timber panel products. Coillte is one of the largest provider (c. 400 hundred) of sites for Telecoms and is committed to the ongoing development of Mobile, Telecommunications and Broadcast Operators for the deployment of wireless communications technologies.
With the advances in mobile technology (3G, etc) Mobile Operators have a growing requirement to deliver higher bandwidth services using wireless technologies and this, in turn, is driving a need for increased bandwidth capability in the backhaul part of Mobile networks.
Coillte wishes to address this increased bandwidth capability requirement by providing the facility of optical fibre connectivity to the sites on their land. This O.F. facility has several possible forms which range from the provision of a Full Managed Service at the top of the scale and down through the options of Lit Fibre, Dark Fibre, Managed Sub-duct, basic Duct and finally site access(in particular over hilltop and forestry terrain). Coillte wishes to explore which of these OF infrastructure forms provides the best fit with Coillteโs business strategy and delivers OF capability to the Telecommunications Operators.
Coillte wishes to engage with Companies in order to allow Coillte address the above objective which will derive optimum value. Companies should be able to demonstrate the capability to design an end-to-end solution, source the relevant components and manage to completion a selected model for a strategic Optical Fibre infrastructure project or projects.
