Development of a new Forensic Science Laboratory at Backweston

The Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland invite Applications / Expressions of Interest from competent Contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on a short-list from which tenders may be invited to carry out works to develop a new Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) facility at Backweston, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. Please see the relevant Pre-Qualification documents attached to this Notice (separate Notices will be posted in respect of Mechanical, Electrical and Lift Specialists).
The FSL is to be a mainly two storey building of approximately 9,550 sqm internal floor area, including laboratories, offices and ancillary accommodation, some on a third floor, with a single storey utilities and storage building of 485 sqm. The external finishes of the building will be coloured render, timber framed windows and metal roof cladding.
Vehicular and pedestrian access will be provided off an existing internal private road via the existing Backweston Campus access off Stacumney Lane. A security hut is to be provided at the entrance to the proposed site within the Campus.
Site development works will include on site foul drainage connecting to the existing Campus foul drainage system. The surface water drainage system will connect to the existing attenuation system with an additional attenuation pond of sufficient size to cater for the proposed development and for future development on the Campus site. Site development works will also include landscaped forecourts, earth mounding, planted woodland, staff amenity areas, an internal site security fence and approximately 260 car parking spaces.
Interested Contractors should note that the Contracting Authority may elect, at its discretion, to novate the Specialists to be employed. Some or all of the required Specialists may be novated - a decision will be made prior to issuing Tender documents.
