Contract for forest crop establishment work 2011-2012
Coillte invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors interested in supplying mechanical ground preparation services and forest crop establishment work commencing in 2011/2012.
1. Mechanical ground preparation
Mechanical ground preparation will be required in the following Coilltes districts/counties:
District counties.
E1 Wicklow / Dublin.
E2 Wexford / Kilkenny / Carlow.
E3 Kildare / Offaly / Laois.
N1 Donegal.
N2 Sligo / Leitrim.
W3 Mayo, West Galway.
The work may include (but not limited too) any or all of the following: mounding, windrowing, ripping, ploughing, draining, scarifying, fenceline clearance, management tracks, silt traps and removal of scrub. The contracts may consist of both reforestation and afforestation sites. Contractor should have experience of delivering this or a similar service.
2. Forest crop establishment work (long term & short term contracts) will be required in the following Coilltes districts/counties:
District Counties.
E1 Wicklow / Dublin.
E2 Wexford / Kilkenny / Carlow.
E3 Kildare / Offaly / Laois.
N1 Donegal.
S1 Tipperary South / Waterford.
S2 Tipperary North /Limerick/ North Kerry.
S3 East, South & North Cork.
S4 West Cork / South Kerry.
N2 Sligo / Leitrim / South Donegal.
N3 Cavan / Monaghan / Louth / West Meath / Longford / Meath.
W1 Clare / South Galway.
W2 Roscommon, East Galway.
W3 Mayo, West Galway.
Long-term contracts - involves completing all establishment work (both manual & mechanical) to free-growing standard (min 4yrs) and includes the supply of all materials (except initial plants).
Short-term contracts – consists of work that is outside the Long-term & ground preparation contracts, and will involve one or more of the following operations: planting, fencing, fertilising, filling-in, cleaning, chemical spraying, weevil spraying, renewal of fire-lines/drains, distribution, shaping, and includes the supply of all materials (except initial plants). Contracts will be no longer than 1 year in duration.
The questionnaire attached should be completed and enclosed in a sealed envelope, marked “pre-qualification questionnaire for forest crop establishment work” and should be delivered not later than on 1.7.2011 (17:00) for the attention of:

Forestry services are classified as non-priority services falling under Annex II B of Directive 2004/18/EC. These services are covered by Articles 23 and 35(4) of the Directive only, to the exclusion of the other provisions. Whilst such procurements are not expressly covered by provisions of the Directive, the award procedure will nevertheless being conducted in accordance with the principles of equal treatment and transparency.
